Afternoon on a Hill

”I will be the gladdest thing

Under the sun!

I will touch a hundred flowers

And not pick one.”

Edna St. Vincent Millay, Afternoon on a Hill
Paint: Holbein watercolours

Paper: St Cuthberts Mill Saunders Waterford CP 300gsm (back)

Brush: Rosemary series 8
I used Yuko Nagayama’s book as reference for this piece. I like how loose her style is, but I incorporated my own colour palette and layered a few wet into wet variegated washes to create a more fluid and off focus background.
